Fonts

Here I am, editing my fonts for my blog layout, and when I click "Preview", I see my blog in the cute new fonts I put in.  Then, I go to view my blog normally, and the cute fonts are replaced by ugly ones!  I don't know why it's doing that!  I liked the new fonts I chose!  Hm.. I will figure this problem out.  Thank goodness for Google.  That's how I figured out how to replace the fonts in the first place.  If there are any blog layout gurus, please let me know how to fix this.  That would be much appreciated!

This week has flown by.  It only feels like Wednesday, but it's Thursday!  That means tomorrow is Friday, which means weekend!  This weekend is going to be busy, which I found out as Robert and I went over our schedules last night.  It's going to be a good weekend... I can feel it!

Jumanji

Robert and I watched Jumanji last night.  It made me wish games could come to life.  Minus the life-threatening parts.  I kinda want to get the Jumanji board game, but I would probably get disappointed because the pieces don't move by themselves, or words wouldn't magically appear in the cool black ball in the middle.  It would still be fun though. Maybe.  What makes it even more lame is that the board game comes in regular cardboard box.  Not even a cool wooden set like in the movie!  Lame.

Memorial Day Weekend

First thing's first.  This morning as Robert was taking me to work, we were stopped at a stop light when he says: "Ew this guy picked his nose and ate it!" So I look behind me and sure enough, this old man is picking his nose and eating his boogers.  I thought only little kids did that, but he must like the taste of boogers I guess.

This weekend... what did I do to start off my weekend? I don't remember. I just remember Sunday and Monday.  Okay, I remember most of it now!

So Friday after work, Robert and I had some chicken alfredo and watched Hook.

On Saturday, Robert and I slept in.  After waking up, we ate breakfast and watched some Shark Tank (I think... we watched some on Sunday, but I think we watched one on Saturday).  Robert then had to work from 2-5 so during that time, I watched the Bachelorette and practiced my talk for about half an hour.  Robert came home and we ran to the library so I could pick up two books that were on hold for me, then we drove to Springville to go to a graduation party for Robert's friend's brothers.

Sunday was speaking day.  Glad I could get the talk over with.  After church, Robert and I went to my family's house and ate homemade Cafe Rio (it was delish!).  After dinner, we sat around and relaxed, and entertained ourselves.  This is what we did to entertain ourselves:
Don't judge.  Later we went to my grandparent's house for like an hour, then Robert and I had a sleep over with two couples (the Thrustons and Christensens) in our ward (the Christensens ended up leaving at like 1 in the morning though).  We watched Shark Tank from about 10:30 to 2 in the morning.  It's such a good show.  We all went to bed at around 2:30.

Monday we woke up, and Howard and Emily left and Robert and I had breakfast.  After breakfast we got ready for the day and headed over to my grandparent's house for a BBQ.  We ate, tossed a rugby ball around, then Robert and I left to go swimming with the Thrustons at Glenwood.  I needed some sun (this is the first time I am not darker than my sisters... I just haven't had time to sit out), but sadly did not get much.  After swimming, Howard and Emily went to buy stuff for hamburgers and hot dogs, while Robert and I took a shower and cleaned up from the pool (Howard and Emily didn't get in the pool).  Then, we had hamburgers and hot dogs and watched "Warrior".  That was the end of our Memorial Day Weekend.

3-day Weekend!

I was on KSL reading the news and came across a news article with new species.  This is the Sneezing Monkey.  Ew.  It looks like a bat/skeleton.

Anyways, aside from that weird looking monkey, IT'S A 3-DAY WEEKEND!  It's about time!

Gradgiation.

Yesterday was graduation for my sister and sister-in-law.  They both graduated from Springville High.  Congrats!

And after the ceremony and pictures, Robert and I went with his family and ate at Los Hermanos in Lindon.  Yum.  After that, we went to my house and hung out there.  We also ate dinner there, but I didn't eat much since I was still full from lunch.

Oh, and while we were playing Monopoly Deal, Robert got a phone call.  He looked at his caller ID and had this oh-crap face, and he also said: "Oh crap."  So in return, I gave him a puzzled look as he answered.  He went to another room cuz it was too loud in the main area of the house, and when he came back he said, "We have to give a talk on Sunday."  Great.  So now I have to give a talk.  At least that'll give me something to do when I have nothing to do at work...

Work is Awesome.

Yesterday work went by fast.  Today, not so much.  Don't I look so excited to be at work?
Yeah.  It's a party every day.  You should be jealous.

Maybe I'll tell a story to pass the time.  Maybe two that are similar to each other.

Once upon a time I was at the City Creek Center in Salt Lake City during the General Conference weekend.  The girls went to check out this new shopping center while the men went to Priesthood Session.  While in one of the stores (Forever 21 I believe), I tried on a dress.  Except I didn't go to the dressing room to try the dress on because the lines were "Forever" long (my sisters-in-law also tried their clothes on outside).  So I put the dress on and decide to buy it.  I go to take it off and it gets stuck to the dress I was already wearing, flashing my garment bottoms to shoppers in the process.  Lovely.  Luckily most of them were girls.

Story 2: Yesterday I went to the bathroom during work.  As I was washing my hands, a lady that works in the same office as me walks in.
"Hi Brandi."
"Hi."
"Your dress is hooked."
I look down and sure enough, I'm flashing my garment bottoms again.  Good thing she walked in and told me or the whole ASB would have gotten to see my cute (not) butt.

Moral of the story is: Good thing for garment bottoms.  They don't reveal much. Haha.

My Nasty Hair

My hair is disgusting.  It's so damaged.  I need to find something that will work that will keep my hair properly moisturized.  I found this thing on Pinterest a while back, but the website doesn't work anymore!  I used that treatment once so I don't know how well it actually worked.  But luckily, I pinned another website with pretty much the same treatment. Hopefully that'll hopefully help my hair.  Here are the ingredients and instructions just in case anybody else wants to try this, or in case that website also doesn't work anymore and I can have a back-up on here.

Homemade Hot Oil Treatment for Damaged Hair
  • 3 tbsp cold pressed, extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 tbsp jojoba oil
  • 1 tbsp pure organic honey
1. Combine all three ingredients in a small plastic container & shake to mix.
2. Put some water in a small saucepan & heat the water on the stove.  Don't allow it to boil.
3. Remove the saucepan from the stove & set the bottle of oils in the water to warm it.
4. Shampoo your hair while the oil is warming.  Towel dry it lightly.
5. Pour the warm oil mixture into your hands and massage it into your hair.  Work thoroughly from roots to ends.
6. Put a plastic cap over your hair & wrap a towel over your head.  Leave the oils in your hair for 30 minutes.
7. Shampoo the oil from your hair & condition your hair.

The end.  Now I just gotta buy all the stuff and put this to the test.
I hope my hair looks this luscious.

Unpleasant Surprise

So here I am at work stuffing checks.  The box I was taking check envelopes out of ran out, so I pulled off the lid to the next box.  And what comes charging at me from inside the box?  An ugly spider (that's what color it was) with a fat, fat, fat body, and all its legs were above the body more towards the head. Sick, sick sick!  Of course I squeal and roll my rolly chair as far away as possible.  My boss laughs and says, "Is there a spider?" So she marches across to my desk and squishes it for me.

I hate spiders.

I don't feel safe at my desk.

Weird Noises

Apparently I make weird noises when I sleep (says Robert).  I sometimes make them when I am awake too, so I know what the noise sounds like.  It's a noise that is made when my mouth is closed and excess air surrounding my tongue gets pushed toward the back of my mouth by my tongue.  I don't even know how to explain it, but that is as close as I can.  It is weird, and I don't know why it does that.

Do you know what else is a weird noise?  Smiling.  I know, smiling?  Smiling makes noise?  It does.  One time for a youth fireside the speaker gave the example of being able to hear a pin drop during silence, then she said the same thing could happen with smiles.  The speaker told everyone to be silent.  After, she told us to all smile on the count to 3.  1... 2... 3 -smiling noise-.  Who knew?

Polyphobia: The Fear of Many Things

I have a fear of many things.  The book I'm reading now, Need, has inspired me to list my phobias for this next post.  I have to say, I am scared of many things. Here are my top 5 (in no particular order):

1. Arachnophobia: the fear of spiders.  I hate them.  Kill them.  They're ugly.  They're creepy.  They always find me, and I don't want them to.  Leave me alone.
2. Honondasdontiaphobia: the fear of losing teeth.  I have a lot of dreams about my teeth rotting or just falling out for no reason, and it scares me.
3. Opthalomophobia + Social Phobia: the fear of being stared at + the fear of being evaluated negatively in a social setting.  It's not exactly this fear of being stared at, but I get self-conscious when all eyes are on me.  I go red and stumble on my words.
4. Agliophobia: the fear of pain.  Robert can tell you that haha.  This ties in with death.  I'm not afraid of death, but scared that it will hurt.
5. Thantophobia + Eremophobia: the fear of death + being alone.  Which to me equals the fear of someone you love dying.  They didn't have a phobia that described that so I just combined two.

I have other phobias.  These ones are still on the list, but not as much as the top 5.
Achluophobia: the fear of darkness.
Acrophobia: the fear of heights (to a certain degree.  I don't like heights if I can feel motion.  Like rocking ferris wheels.)
Agraphobia: the fear of sexual abuse.  Or being kidnapped (they didn't have that).  I would hate to be kidnapped.  That'd be so scary.
Androphobia: the fear of men.  If they're sketchy looking.
Ankylophobia: the fear of immobility of a joint.  It feels freaky.  I've already felt that.
Atelophobia: the fear of imperfection.
Atychiophobia: the fear of failure.
Bacteriophobia: the fear of bacteria.  Only that they will get into my body somehow and get me sick.  I can work with them in labs though.
Carcinophobia: the fear of cancer.  I do not want cancer.  It kinda goes with my pain phobia.
Catoptrophobia: the fear of mirrors.  I am when I am either a) home alone or b) at night when no one is in the same room with me.
Chaetophobia: the fear of hair.  Yes, I know it's weird.  But I don't like wet hairs sticking to me.  Robert can also tell you that.  And my parents.  It all started when I was a baby, which makes it all the more weird.
Doxophobia: the fear of expressing opinions or receiving praise.
Enisiophobia: the fear of committing an unpardonable sin or being criticized.
Entomophobia: the fear of insects.  Some are just creepy and crawly and ugly.
Ereuthrophobia: the fear of blushing.  Too bad it's uncontrollable and I do it too often.
Glossophobia: the fear of speaking in public or trying to speak.  Mainly because people are all looking at me.
Helminthophobia: the fear of being infested with worms.  Worms are just sick, especially when they are wriggling inside of you.
Mysophobia: the fear of being contaminated with dirt and/or germs.  Mine is the germs.  I don't want to get sick or get some sort of disease!
Ombrophobia: the fear of rain or being rained on.  Mine is the latter--if my hair is down and will get frizzy.
Panthopobia: the fear of suffering or disease.
Parasitophobia: the fear of parasites.
Pnigophobia: the fear of choking or being smothered.  Basically suffocating.
Poinephobia: the fear of punishment.
Scoleciphobia: the fear of worms.  Like I said, they are wriggly and creepy.

Yep. Those are most of my phobias, which is quite a few.

Free Association

I finally got me a library card (the BYU library just wasn't cutting it)! The book I wanted (Matched) to check out was all checked out by others, so I had to put it on the hold list.  I really wanted to read that book!  I was like #43 on the wait list.  Lame.  Oh well.  I got other books to read.

Robert and I already got our BYU Rugby tickets for this Saturday.  It's the championship game up at Rio Tinto against Arkansas State.  It's like Christmas for Robert.  He just gets so excited whenever his "boys" play.

I know, my blog entries kind of sound jumbled. Like there is no organization.  But I free-write for the most part.  Write whatever is on my mind, then write about the next thing that pops into my mind.  Writers call it free writing.  Psychologists call it free association.  I learned about the psychologist version while taking a humanities class last semester.  We learned about Sigmund Freud and his concepts of the subconscious/unconscious mind.  Maybe I'll play that game.  Find a list of words on Google and copy them onto here and write whatever first pops into my mind when I see a word.

Apple:  I ate an apple this morning.  Is it just me, or do apples make anyone else extremely full?  I didn't even have a full apple.  Must be the juices spreading in my stomach. I dunno.

Grace: Robert likes this name for a girl.  I am not sure I feel the same way.  It's alright.

CatchingCatching Fire.  The 2nd book in the Hunger Games series.

Fur: PETA.  Who cares if people wear fur? They need to be warm.  The Nephites did it.  At least that's how they are portrayed.

Arm: Limb.  Speaking of limbs, my boss saw something on the news the other day about this girl and her friend who decided to make their own zipline over the Georgia lake.  The girl tested the zipline out, but it broke and she fell and she got a huge gash in her leg.  She went to the hospital and found out the water had some flesh-eating bacteria in it and the bacteria went down to her bone.  She had to amputate her leg.  It had already spread to her other leg and to her hands.  They weren't sure if they would have to amputate those off as well.  I love my limbs.  I hope I don't have to amputate anything.

Dozen: Eggs.

Cabbage: Cabbage Patch Kids.  I remember taking three separate strands of "hair" (yarn) on a Cabbage Patch Kid at my grandma's house when I was younger and braided them.  Then I took another three and braided those too.  I continued to do this until the whole head was braided so it kinda looked like the Cabbage Patch Kid had dreadlocks.

Puncture:  Brian Regan.  The part on the ironing board and its hazards, and the iron being able to create puncture wounds.

Okay, that was fun.  Maybe I'll do that again in another post when I am bored out of my mind.

The Surprise

I was wrong.  But only because Robert lied about the time... sorta.  He said the surprise was a two hour drive, but he didn't mention it was both ways.  So really it was only an hour drive to our surprise destination: City Creek Center.  Except I thought we were just eating there because he said the place we were going to eat dinner at was the halfway point to the surprise.  Lie #2.  So we got to the mall, and I asked him where we were eating.  He had said "some place special", but when we got there, his answer was, "I dunno, what do you wanna eat?"  We went to check out the Brazilian barbeque place, but it was $42ish... per plate.  I didn't wanna blow $84+ on dinner, so we settled on the Food Court.  We ate Italian, and it was very good.  Afterwards, Robert took me shopping to find me a Mother's Day gift (I know, I'm not a mom yet, but I'm already playing the part right? After all, I have Robert to watch.  Hehe) and we found our mothers gifts as well.  This is what I ended up buying:
Robert insisted I buy me this hat because I looked like a "drop-dead gorgeous bombshell" with it on.  I'm still kinda iffy on it (I've never been one to wear hats... my ears pop out and look weird, so I tuck them inside the hat).
Then he wanted to buy me a shirt to go with it (either a white collared shirt, or this one, which is also blue-and-white striped).

I love my husband :) He likes to spoil me and I like his surprises. The End.

Thank Goodness... It's Friday!

It's Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday!  And no, I don't like that song.  But I am happy that it's Friday!

So Wicked is coming back to Utah.  I almost got tickets, but Robert and I decided we'd watch it in New York.  I think that'd be better anyway.

Robert has a surprise date for me after work.  He says we're going somewhere 2 hours away.  He likes to surprise me, but sometimes I am just too good of a guesser.  Like when I guessed Park City (which is about 2 hours away) and he made an oh-crap face, then tried to cover it up.  But then again, he does that even if I am wrong to get me off track.  He's a sly one, that Robert.

Health and Stuff...

I sneeze at least once a week.  That's normal for me.  But, when I'm at work in the office, I sneeze at least twice.  A day.  I have come to the conclusion that I am allergic to work.

Speaking of health issues (allergies are a part of health, right?), I was at my parents house two weeks ago, and my dad made me this "green drink".  You know, the drinks with all this health stuff including veggies like spinach.  I was a little apprehensive about how it might taste, but it turns out it tasted pretty good.  It mostly tasted like peanut butter.  Not nasty at all (if you like the taste of peanut butter).  This was perfect for Robert (since he loves peanut butter and he needs his greens)!  So I got the recipe from my dad and wanted to make this smoothie all week, but didn't get around to it till last night.
Recipe (that I'm remembering off the top of my head since I'm at work and the recipe's at home.  But it's so simple.):
  • 3 c. of ice
  • a big handful of spinach
  • 1/2 banana
  • 2 Tb. of peanut butter
  • 1 serving of vanilla protein powder
  • 1/4 c. of almond milk
And that's all! Simple.  Just blend all the ingredients in the blender, and voila!  Health in a cup.

Here's to Starting a Blog

Well. Why did I create a blog? Because work is a little slow, seeing as how it is Spring term, and I need something to fill up my time till the hands on the clock hit 5 o'clock. So here I am. That just shows you how desperate I am to fill up time, filling up a blog that probably no one will even read. So, basically I am just talking to myself. You know, smart people tend to talk to themselves (quoting my boss).

You know what else I do to fill up my time nowadays?  I read.  I didn't really enjoy reading, even if I read a good book here and there, but after reading the Fablehaven series and the Hunger Games, I find myself wandering the site of Goodreads.com and looking for books to read.  I think I actually enjoy reading now (minus school textbooks... yuck).  I just finished Mockingjay yesterday, and I mean, the ending wasn't TERRIBLE like I have heard from practically everyone, but it was kind of depressing.  Even though Katniss ended up with Peeta (yay!) and has two kids.  She just never found true happiness after her life of Hunger Games and war.  She was depressed till the end, which made me kind of depressed.

I also finished reading  The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks a week before I finished Mockingjay.  It wasn't his typical romance novel.  Sure, there was some romance here and there, but it was overall creepy.  I did some of the reading right when it started getting scary when I was home alone because Robert was at work.  And it was night.  It's about this girl whose husband dies, and four years later she starts dating again.  She dates boring Bob until she meets Richard.  Richard is the perfect man and takes her out on amazing dates.  Then there's Mike, who was her husband's best friend growing up, so she's known him for 12 years.  Everything's going great, until a creeper stalks her (it's kinda obvious as you read who it is, but I don't wanna give it away).  Yeah.  That's why I was getting scared all by my lonesome in my little apartment as night was approaching.  It's a good read, and I recommend it.  Just don't read it by yourself at night.
