4th of July Block Party

When we first moved into our neighborhood here in New Mexico, one thing we kept hearing about over and over from many people was about our street's famous 4th of July block party.  We finally got to see what the hype was all about yesterday, and it was definitely a party!  They get a permit from the city to block off the road, and this year they had everyone and their guests wear wristbands because I guess in years past random people would crash the party.  It was like a mini carnival just on one street.  I got a few pictures when it was first starting, so you can't see how many people ended up showing up to this thing, but it was a lot!  Each house on the street was in charge of something.  One house had a dunk tank and a hammer hitting thing you see at carnivals (no clue what they're called), another had a blow up fighting ring, another had a bouncy house, and other houses had things such as snow cones, cotton candy, face painting, balloon darts, bubbles, a one-hole mini golf booth, a s'mores bar, popcorn, etc.  We had a couple of spike ball nets set up in front of our house.  An hour before fireworks, we then had a street water fight.  It was crazy!  One house had a huge swimming pool in their garage full of water balloons!  And you could tell they were the huge targets with all of the popped water balloons plastered all over their driveway.  Between 8:30-9, there were a bunch of street fireworks that we sat out and watched, and then the park did a firework show, so we walked over to our neighbor's house in the cul-de-sac where we had a good view of the show.  It was quite the celebration!

That's where the face painting was... except I couldn't see my screen so it's a little off ...

Oh, don't mind my baby just playing in dirty water... haha.
