The Ward Sleep Over and First Day of School

Last Friday was the ward sleep over at Bishop's house.  They rented a blow up screen and put it in their backyard.  First we watched "August Rush", then we watched a movie called "Rustlers' Rhapsody" (the bishop's wife claimed it was hilarious and that it's the best movie ever).  "Rustlers' Rhapsody" reminds me of "The Three Amigos" or "Support Your Local Sheriff", so I enjoyed the movie.  There are some funny parts.  I didn't find it hilarious, but it was quite funny.  I recommend you watch that movie if you're into comedy and cowboy movies.  I don't like cowboy movies by themselves, but if you add some comedy, they're good to watch.  After the movies, we just camped out in the backyard.  Robert borrowed a tarp from my house (so our blankets wouldn't get all wet from the dew) and we just put blankets and sleeping bags on top.  We slept out under the stars, and it was one of the most comfortable sleeps of my life.  It would be a different story if I was being bitten by mosquitoes or spiders, but there were no bugs (that I know of) that night.  There was a slight breeze, which could have helped, and I think the bishop sprays his lawn with spider stuff.  That, or they don't get spiders in their grass.  I would never sleep out on my lawn back in Springville though because our grass is infested with the jumping spiders.  Sick.  Anyways, it was a fun little outing, and in the morning we had some homemade waffles, along with homemade syrup that the bishop's wife made.  That syrup is better than the store bought stuff.  I loved it!

And today school started.  Not too bad for a first day, minus the fact that I have been sweating all day.  So gross.  But work's almost over and I get to go home!  And tomorrow will be great.  Just one class in the morning then I go to work for some of the day.  Sorry for boring you out of your mind.  I just have nothing else to entertain you with.

Last Weekend Before School

Well, it's the last weekend before it's back to school.

Got my schedule worked out with school and work.  Check.
Bought books.  Check.
Register iClicker.  Check.
Buy notebooks and pens.  No check.
Look over the study guide and do my first at home quiz for MMBio.  No check.

That's about all I need to do before school, I think. What exciting thing am I going to do this last weekend before school is back in session?  Nothing much.  The only thing Robert and I have planned is the ward sleep over at bishop's house.  Other than that, he works tomorrow and I may or may not go to the mall with Kajsia (my sister).  It is so weird that she's all moved out and going to BYU now.

Time to do the laundry. G'bye.

Park Citayyyy

This past weekend was the family trip to Park City with Robert's family.  It was a nice get away before the summer is completely over.

Thursday
We arrived at our condo close to 4.  It was a nice little place to stay at.
 Mine and Robert's room
Emmali's bed in a little nook of the condo
 The living room
 Another living room area
The kitchen

Once we arrived, we unpacked everything and checked out the condo.  We later walked to the Mustang, which is the restaurant we ate at.

I got the sea bass with red potatoes.  It was so good!
After dinner, we walked up Main Street, back down, and to the condo.  I think we got home and played some rounds of Sorry Sliders (or something like that), then decided to watch a DVD, but the DVD didn't work because it was a Blu-Ray, and the DVD player at the condo only played regular DVDs.  I don't remember what we ended up doing.  I think just going to bed.

Friday
Today was the day we watched the Bourne movie.  But that was later on in the evening.  First we went to the outlet mall and bought ourselves some clothes.  Robert and I snatched a couple of good deals (one each.. ha).  I got a shirt at Abercrombie and Fitch that was was 50% off its original price, plus another 50%, so it ended up being $9.  Robert scored a pair of jeans for $8 at DownEast Basics (in the tiny section for men hahaha).  It was a good deal.  After a long day of shopping, we watched "The Bourne Legacy".  It was good.  Kinda confusing at times, but it was still good.  Except the ending was a little abrupt, so they better have a sequel (which I bet they will because there are some loose ends).

No, we didn't watch Spiderman, but it had a cool 3D effect
After the movie, we rented a movie from RedBox.  Emmali picked "Abduction" with Taylor Lautner.

Saturday
This day was an exhausting day.  Fun, but exhausting.  It was the play day.  We rode a zip line, went down the Alpine Slides, and zoomed down the Alpine Coasters.
Our "model" pictures. Ha.  James had a hard time keeping a straight face.
Then I had a hard time keeping a straight face.

That little line up the mountain is the coaster track that takes you up the mountain before you go down it.
Those two little things hanging on the right side are the zip line harnesses.
 Alpine Slides

 I was waiting for Robert.
Robert waiting for his turn to go down the Slide.

On the way up the mountain on the Coaster.
There's Robert on his way up before me.
It was such a fun day.  After our exciting day, we headed to Heber and had milkshakes at Granny's.  We then picked up some dinner and drove to Sundance to watch "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", but on the way to Sundance, we drove past a fire.  Or what was left behind.
 It was super smoky.
 And super charred.

It was crazy.  But at least we didn't have to see a raging fire!

Anyways, the play was very enjoyable.  Except my nose started randomly bleeding right as the scene was ending and going into intermission.  Good timing.

It was such a fun weekend!  Coming back to work today was not that fun haha.

Yummy Din Din

Today Robert made dinner and it was delish.  He made us a nice, juicy roast (with carrots) along with mashed potatoes and stuffing.

It was very satisfying for my stomach :)
Then Robert pulled out our video camera.  We got it with our purchase of a mattress back in December, but it didn't come with a memory card, and the one Robert put in it didn't work so he got one today at Costco that works with the video camera and has been playing with it a lot.

 He's just being silly.
We're both being silly.
A while ago I took pictures of me wearing Robert's flip flops... he's got huge feet.  Or mine are just extra small.

Lil Update

Well, I am starving.

Okay so this weekend  I didn't do too much.  Just chilled... read some Uglies.... fixed my bangs... and went mini golfing with the Thrustons.

So I had originally trimmed my bangs to be side-swooped again (they were too long... at an awkward length), but they were terrible.  So I decided to be brave and try the straight-across bangs (I looked online first to make sure those types of bangs would work with my face shape before I really butchered my hair).  So I trimmed my bangs, and I dunno how I feel about them yet.  But they are definitely better than what they looked like before ha.
Mini golfing in the dark of the night. (Picture from Emily's phone)
Can I just say that Trafalga needs to put up lights outside?  Okay, they have a few here and there, but they're colored and don't shine anything.  They're just for show.  They need real lights that actually let you see where you're hitting.  It especially doesn't help when you have a dark purple ball that blends in with the dark ground.  But it was still fun.
Robert and I got ice cream @ Macey's.  We got mediums, but they were ginormous.  This is after eating like half of the ice cream.

How I Treat Others

Here I am at another day of work, with 1 hour left.  As I have been sitting here thinking of what I could write on my blog, lots of things seemed to connect.  I have come across a lot of media that has really made me think of how we affect other people by how we treat them.  I will just list the top 3 that come to mind.

The first thing that makes me think of this is a book I read called The Message.  It's about a man who goes into a coma for a few weeks, and during that time he goes to the Spirit World a couple of times where he is taught about the afterlife and what we can do now to prepare for the afterlife.  The main part of his "message" to us still living is service.  Service to God and others is something we need to practice doing here on Earth because it is all we do in the after life on Earth.  I really thought about how I really need work on this more, and what I can do to improve.

The second thing is another book, 13 Reasons Why.  This book is a fiction book (but it still made me think) about a girl, who commits suicide, and she creates these tapes for 13 people, giving reasons for each person on how they played a part in her decision to commit suicide.  Some of the things the people do in the book are a little farfetched (I guess there are some people in the world that could do the things she described, but I am a little sheltered so part of me thinks it's a little crazy), but there are little things that can and do affect people, even if you don't notice how your actions/words affect them.

The last thing is something I saw on the news a couple of months ago.  I saw that there was a bus monitor that was being bullied by 7th grade boys and how people were raising money for her to go on a nice vacation.  The news mentioned how one of the kids on the bus recorded the boys harassing the bus monitor on a cell phone and posted the video on YouTube. It's a 10 minute video, and I decided to watch some last night, but I was only like 2 minutes in till I started bawling and couldn't watch it anymore (haha good thing Robert wasn't home.  How embarrassing!).  In my mind the whole time I was thinking: "How the heck can people treat others like this?", when in reality, I do things like this.  I don't make rude remarks about others in front of their faces (at least not intentionally...), but it is just as bad behind their backs. I have a bad habit of making fun of people on TV (like on the Bachelor and other shows like that), and I shouldn't.

So how have I resolved to improve on how I treat others and to love them no matter what?  It all goes back to the first thing: The Message.  When you serve others, you learn to love them unconditionally.  When the author of The Message (I can't remember his name) first entered Spirit Paradise, he could feel not only peace, but love emanating from the other spirits because all they did was serve one another and those down here on earth.

Update on the Summer of '12

I haven't written on my blog for a while.  Nothing exciting has happened to me lately, therefore, nothing to write about.  Summer is quickly coming to an end :(  I am not looking forward to going back to school to be honest.  This semester's going to be crazayyyy, and it's not going to get any better.  Till I graduate.  Boo.

10 more days till the Park City trip with Robert's family.
18 more days till the ward sleep over at Bishop's house.
21 more days till summer is over and school starts.

Spa Night

Okay, update on the recipes.  I did Pad Thai two nights ago, but it wasn't that good because a) the noodles weren't the right ones (Robert claims they're Pad Thai noodles, but they're too skinny looking to me) and b) we didn't have green onions.  Also, I don't know what happened (maybe I ate too much cilantro?) but I got food poisoning so my stomach was in pain that whole night, and then at around 2:30 I was up dry heaving on and off for a couple of hours.  So let's just say I won't be trying to make that again.  I will just eat Pad Thai at restaurants from now on.

On to spa night, which was last night.  We went over to the Thruston's apartment and watched the Olympics while we had our spa night (yes, Emily and I made our husbands join us hahaha).

 These masks made us laugh.

We laughed at this creeper for a long time.

Emily had to get a photo of her dog, Scout.
It was a fun night, and Robert's a good sport.  Hehe. <3
