Museum of Natural Curiosity

Last week we went to the Museum of Natural Curiosity up at Thanksgiving Point.  It was so fun!
In the wind tunnel experiencing 85+ mph wind.  Myla was not a fan.
Robert "showering" in the wind.
Looking at how vortexes work.

Myla at the baby water table.  That girl kept stealing toys Myla was playing with...
Seriously heaven for her.
I should probably have one of these built into my future house.
Playing with pipes shooting out water

Grabbing the dripping water
In the illusion room trying to shoot a ball into the basketball hoop with these wacky glasses.

Myla was so worn out!
It is such a fun place for both adults and kids!  We were seriously there for like 3 hours, so while it's pricey, it's well worth the time and money!

Pinner's Conference

This weekend was the bomb dot com!  My mother-in-law got my two sisters-in-law and I tickets to go to the Pinner's Conference this weekend.  For those of you who don't know what it is, it's basically Pinterest in real life.  There were a bunch of booths selling things ranging from crafts and clothes to workout items and emoji pillows (yeah...).  We also attended classes that we pre-registered for online weeks before the conference, and they were, for the most part, informative and/or fun!  There were  a couple of classes that were duds that we just walked out of haha.  My top 3 favorite classes that I attended were:
1. Calligraphy: we learned how to use those calligraphy markers to do modern calligraphy... you can see my practicing down below.
2. Slat board craft: We made a cute sign to put in our homes.  You can see my finished product down below.
3. Pinterest fashion to fit your body type: I wasn't sure about this class, but there weren't any other classes going on during that hour that sounded interesting, so I decided to try this one.  It ended up being so informative!  The presenter is Alicia Richmond (?), but apparently she's been on Good Morning Utah and on other daytime TV channels and is on the Macy's board for fashion.  She talked to us about loving our body types and how to find clothing to accentuate our features, rather than hide underneath our clothing.  She also talked about clothing that works with certain body types, and clothes that don't work with certain body types.  Did you know that when shopping for pants, you look at the zipper length to find the best fit?  I sure didn't!

Day 1
Terrible picture.  I know.
Waiting in line to get in.
In our first class.  It was one of the duds.  Not that it was a bad class, but it wasn't applicable to me.
Practicing my calligraphy strokes
My slat board decoration--super fun to make!

Day 2

Learning how to make crepes with Our Best Bites
Yeah... I was not made to create watercolor floral designs.
Got my one nail done for free at a booth hahahaha.  It looked terrible!!!
Got to test out some chalk color in our hair

California Adventures

This past weekend, Robert, Myla and I went to California for his coworker's wedding.  We went down to Vegas Wednesday night and stayed at Robert's brother's house, then continued on to California Thursday evening.  On Friday, we went to Disneyland!!!  For freeeeeeeee (Robert has connections through people he works with)!
On the Mickey & Friend's tram going into the park
Doing Disneyland in one day is not easy because there are just too many rides and not enough time.  But it definitely helped with a couple of tricks up our sleeves!
1. Having a baby totally helps!  They have this thing called Rider's Swap where some of you wait in line for a ride, while the others (or one person) watch the baby. The people in line get a Rider's Swap (either before you get on the ride or after, depending on the ride).  Then with the Rider's Swap, the person watching the baby + 3 others gets to go through the Fast Pass lane (so some people can even ride the ride twice) once the others get off the ride.  It probably doesn't make sense until you actually do it (I know I was confused reading about it on other websites).
2. You can ask cast members if they have any magic.  One of Robert's coworkers heard about this, so he asked pretty much everyone if they had magic, and the majority of the people said yes!  When they have magic, they let you go through the Fast Pass lane!  We didn't have to wait very long in most of the lines, so we got to ride more rides than if we waited in the lines normally.
On the caterpillar ride in Bug's Land.

Myla was not liking Mickey and Minnie.  She was trying to escape.
She was so tired after a long, hot day.  And she had a chocolate mustache.
I would have taken more pictures, but we didn't go on too many rides with Myla (we mostly went on the older people rides), so there wasn't much to take pictures of.

On Saturday, we went to the beach, and then that evening we went to the wedding reception.

Myla wasn't so sure about the squishy mud-sand, so she wouldn't stand in the water.  Plus it didn't help that the water was cold.

We went to church Sunday, then headed back to Vegas and hung out with family there (the rest of Robert's family went down to Vegas for Labor Day weekend).  It was a crazy, fun, busy weekend and we are exhausted, but it was nice to get away for a bit.

Myla's 1st Birthday

Warning: Get ready for a picture overload!!

Wow!  I can't believe my baby turned 1 today!  To be honest, it's still weird telling people I have a daughter.  I really don't feel old enough to have a child haha.  To kick off this post, here are some pictures of Myla throughout the months.

And here are the pictures from her birthday bash today (cute decorations courtesy of Emmali and Tina):

Don't worry, that's not a face of disgust.  She was excited.

Myla loved clapping for herself every time she opened new presents.

I took one of her toys away so she could open another present.  She was not very happy about that.

She was so nice and kept trying to share with me.

She got tired haha.
All in all I'd say it was a success, and I think Myla really enjoyed her first birthday.
