The First Anniversary

Robert's and my 1st year anniversary was this past Sunday.  We made it a two day anniversary, since it was on Sunday.  On Saturday, we went and saw Les Misérables (I think that's the right thingie above the e haha) with his family, which we will see again tomorrow with my family.  It was pretty good, but I am used to musicals that have some speaking parts.  This musical seriously had like five speaking parts, such as "Come." or "What shall we do?"  That's about it.  And one part of the movie totally ruined the rest of the movie for me.  I won't spoil it for those of you who have not seen the movie yet, but for those of you who have seen it probably know the part I'm talking about.  Yes, the part with Anne Hathaway and the captain guy.  They didn't need to include that part in the movie.  They could have implied what happened to her; they didn't need to show it and make it as graphic as it was.  Anyway, it disturbed me for some time, even after watching the movie.  Once the story moves along, you're so caught up in what is happening you forget that scene momentarily.  I was surprised at how well Anne Hathaway sings though.  I didn't know she was a singer, and the emotion she put into her songs made it so well done.  Hugh Jackman did good as well, but I wasn't a fan of Russell Crowe's voice.  Sure, he can hit the notes and such, but I dunno... just not a fan of his singing voice.  Marius reminds me of Robert haha.  Emmali saw the movie before we went, and she mentioned how one guy reminded her of Robert in the movie, and I knew exactly who she was talking about once he was shown on screen.  I think it's his freckly face :)  The whole theater was bawling by the time the movie ended.  It was good, but I'm not as impressed as all those die hard Les Misérables fans out there.

Back on track... after the movie Robert and I headed to a "surprise" location.  We went to Salt Lake City and stayed at the Red Lion.  I was super tired so we took a nap before heading out to dinner.  We went to Tucanos for dinner, since I got a free meal card for my birthday.

Robert loves Tucanos.
Grilled pineapple.  Used to not be a fan, but I love it now!
Slowing down.  We had a lot to eat.
We went back to the hotel after Tucanos and watched some Pawn Stars on the History Channel.  I think I've mentioned in a post before that we like watching that show together.

The next day we woke up and went to Music and the Spoken Word that the church has every Sunday.  It was interesting to participate as an audience member as they record it because before they record, they tell you things about the Conference Center and how they broadcast Music and the Spoken Word. Did you know that the two projector screens at the Conference Center are 36 feet long?  They're so big they need two projectors per screen in order to make the pictures/videos on the screens look crisp and not blurry.  Crazy.  And there are four acres of land on top of the Conference Center.

Salt Lake Trip

Last night Robert's family took a trip to Salt Lake to see the lights at Temple Square and to shop at City Creek Center before his grandparents drive back up to Idaho today.
Eating dinner at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building at The Garden
After dinner... waiting while family pictures are taken
The Salt Lake Temple with pretty lights around it
Driving back home... I wrote this in the glass before finding out that Robert's grandpa is very particular about his cars and doesn't like "your mitts" all over.  Oops :S

Merry Christmas!

It has been an awesome four day weekend.  Friday night, my sister-in-law, Emmali, slept over at our apartment.  Saturday after Robert went to work, we went to Fillmore with his family to visit his grandparents for Christmas.  We spent the night, then came back Sunday night.  Sunday night was spent at my parent's house.  We slept over there both Sunday and Monday night, and went back to our apartment just last night.  Now it's back to reality (more like work), but luckily I only have the rest of this week to work before I get my break for all of next week.

Sorry, I was going to take pictures to post on here, but I didn't really take any...  except for some ones with my sister.  Which aren't very attractive, so I'll only put one up :)

Finally... Christmas Break!

Finals are finally over, and now it's time for Christmas break, which mostly consists of work.  Yeah.  Not too exciting.  I work from 8-5 every day this week, plus the 3 days after Christmas.  Then after that, I really get a break!  Except Robert will be at work a lot of that time, so I better get bumped up on the waiting list for my library book (I'm only the 2nd person on hold, but still...) or I am going to be one super bored girl.  I guess I could go to Springville and hang out with family while Robert's at work.  Anyways, even if I might be super bored some of the days, at least I'm not at school being bored in class haha.

Plans for the break
  • Robert and I wanted to ride the Trax Frontrunner up to Salt Lake, but it's $11.50!  We're pretty sure it's cheaper just driving up there with our car, to and from.  Still, I think we're taking a trip up there to see the lights one of these days.
  •  Les Miserables!
  • A trip to Fillmore to visit Robert's grandparents
  • A secret surprise trip Robert's got planned for our 1st year anniversary (I did some guessing, and I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in St. George)
  • And of course Christmas and New Year's.

The Big 2-1

Even though it didn't feel like I turned 21.

My birthday was Friday, where I was at work pretty much all day.  8 to 5.  My in-laws took me out to lunch to JCW's, where we ate delicious burgers and fries.  So good.  They also made me open up my present while we were waiting for our food to come out.  It was a pretty big box, and I was wondering what they could have gotten me.  I was thinking maybe clothes or something like that, but when I opened up, there was a big red blanket inside.  I was fine with that cuz I love blankets!  But then, I felt something hard wrapped up inside of the blanket. It was a new... iPhone 5!  I was so surprised (the blanket was just a decoy)!
My first photo taken on my iPhone.  Most of you have probably already seen this on Facebook ha.

After work, Robert and I went straight over to Springville where we ate dinner at my parent's house.  Songs were sung, candles were blown out, and presents were opened.  And of course, at my house, games were played.  That was my evening.

Saturday Robert and I got away to Park City for a little birthday trip.  His mom had given him a Groupon to a Thai restaurant right there on Main Street that expires on like the 13th, so Robert figured we could go to Park City and stay the night to use the Groupon before it expired. It was a freezing day with flurries of snow and icy winds.  We first went to the outlets where we looked around for a bit (didn't get much... just found one Christmas present for someone), then we went to our hotel to take a nap.  I was exhausted not only from walking around the outlets, but also from the day before.  I forgot how much energy working an entire shift takes!  After our extremely short nap of 10 minutes, we were on the road again.  We headed to the movies and watched "Rise of the Guardians".  It was a cute animated movie (it's the one with Jack Frost, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and Sand Man).  Right after the movie, we went straight to Main Street to eat some dinner.  We parked right in front of the restaurant (literally), and we didn't have to pay the parking meter because of the holidays.  Lucky us!  The Thai food was delish, but later that night it was not treating my stomach very good.  Oh well, it has passed.  Ha.  Robert and I went back to the hotel and watched one of our favorite TV shows "Pawn Stars" (it's one of those shows I love watching with Robert, but I wouldn't watch by myself... I have other shows to watch hahaha).

It was a fabulous weekend.  Sucks to come back to finals!  Once this week is over, this girl is one happy camper.

Thanksgiving Break

This weekend was a much needed break.  It was a fun weekend!

Wednesday
I had to work all day.  Work was a little slow.  I got to decorate the Christmas tree in our office, and that was about it haha.  When I got home from work, Robert and I headed to his parent's house in Springville, and we just slept over there.  We ate some good pizza, kicked back and watched a movie.  Movie choice: Mirror, Mirror.  It was a funny movie, though some of the acting was a little cheesy at times.  The weirdest part was the Bollywood dancing at the end during the credits.  Weird.

Thursday
Two Thanksgiving meals!!!  My side of the family has always had a Thanksgiving lunch, and then for dinner my grandma makes turkey noodle soup using the bones from earlier to make the broth.  So, we had Thanksgiving lunch with my family, and then we had Thanksgiving dinner with Robert's... the perks of having both our families in Springville ;)  At my grandma/grandpa's house, we ate our lunch and then kind of relaxed (I guess the turkey was getting to everybody... but me.  For some reason the "tired" chemicals turkeys produce don't affect me).  Robert, Tanaya, and my cousin, McKell, played on guitars for a bit, then we just played around with some apps on Robert's iPhone.  Robert tried to get a nap in, but we were being to loud.  Oops :/  After all that, we got a round of "Bang!" in.  It's such a fun game!  Robert had to leave during the game, so others took our spots.

Robert and I had another wonderful meal at his parent's house.  We ate, got full, and weighed ourselves.  I forgot to mention we (Robert, Emmali, dad, and I) weighed ourselves in the morning to see who would gain the most weight haha.  Emmali "won", but she had extra weight from her jeans later on, when in the morning, she just had some shorts on.  Plus, I don't know how accurate that weighing thing was haha.  According to the scale, I only gained 2 pounds.  So, after dinner, we all sat in the family room to process our meals.  We talked, took pictures for Thomas (Robert's brother on a mission), and sat around.  Then, it was game time.  We played one round of Uno, then played a game of Yahtzee.  That was a terrible game for me... just having no luck at all.  After playing the game, we went and slept over at my parent's house.

Friday
I got to sleep in, and it felt great!  Robert and I left my house around 11 to go shopping for Christmas presents.  We went for Black Friday, but not really, because we found out that the deals on Black Friday aren't really the cheapest during the year.  People really think they're getting great deals, when really, they're not.  But, I did score a great deal because I had a card with 6 punches at Forever Young (the shoe store), where on my 7th punch, I would get a free pair of shoes.  Plus, the sale going on at the store, buy one get one half off (which they have other times of the year... not special to Black Friday), made my purchase cheaper.  I got a free pair of shoes, plus I got half off for the pair I was already buying.  It was nice.  We bought some other things for ourselves for Christmas.  We still need to buy stuff for our family members.

Robert had to go to work from 2-9 on Friday, so I was at home doing homework, sorting the clothes, and doing some dishes.  I may have watched a TV show or two as well... :P  My mom called me and told me she'd pick me up because my family was playing glow-in-the-dark volleyball.  I was debating on whether I wanted to go or not, but I was super bored at home, so I decided to have her come get me.  It was a good choice.  I was being active instead of sitting on my butt at home.
Glow sticks lined the volleyball net
We used a huge beach ball, put some glow sticks inside, and voila!  A ball that glows in the dark.  Haha.
One of the black lights we used

Everyone was wearing a white shirt.  That way, people could be seen in the black light.  It was a ton of fun.  The ball doesn't look heavy, right?  Wrong.  People underestimated its weight, and it almost ripped my (and others') arm off a time or two.  It was still fun (actually, super fun).  We just played in the gym at the church next to my house, since my dad has keys to the church.  My uncle Gary had the music blasting on the church speakers.  We turned off the lights, and played some volleyball.  Okay, not real volleyball, since the rules were:
1. no out-of-bounds
2. a single person could hit it as many times as they wanted
3. others could help get the ball over the net on a serve
4. pretty much just keep the ball off the ground
Good thing we had those rules because that freaking heavy ball would have gone nowhere if we played with regular rules haha.
Robert got off work just in time to arrive to our last game.  Afterwards, we went back to my house and played two rounds of Zilch while we waited for Tanaya to shower (she was coming to sleep over at our house).  Robert won both rounds.  He was just having a lucky night!

It was a fun weekend, but it still continues, so I need to go and get ready now.

Baby Talk

I baby talk with my husband all the time (sorry to those of you who happen to hear it all the time... haha).  I've been thinking about what would happen when we have kids.  Would we still baby talk to each other?  Is this just a phase in our marriage?  I admit, it is a weird thing we do.  I don't know why we do it, but I'm pretty sure I got it from Robert haha.  He would talk like that while we were dating and I just sorta started doing it.  You really do become the people you hang out with the most.  Anyways, I hope it's just a phase... that would be strange hearing 40 year old parents with teenagers still talking to each other like they were babies.

Craft Night

Last night was craft night with Robert's mom and sister.  I figured I might as well get a craft in while Robert was gone hehe. I was feeling like I needed to get some Christmas decorations for the house, so my mom-in-law went to a craft store in Orem and bought wood blocks.  She bought me two things to work on, but I was only able to finish one (it literally took all night...), so there will be another craft night in the future.
Here is the end product.  I was debating on the white N, but it was sparkly like snow, so I had to use it.  I tried making it darker by antiquing it (sorta worked) so it would match all the other dark colors.
Here is the end product in my apartment

It was super fun!  Can't wait to start and finish my next one (you can see it in the background of the first picture.  It's the blocks with the "Noel", "Believe", and "Christmas" vinyl letters).

Random Facts for the Day #1

  •  I am going to start posts of random facts, this being my first.
  • I like the clickety-clacking noise shoes make (especially flats, I don't know why).  I want to get boots that make those noises.
  • It is freezing outside.
  • I hate cramps.  I just want to curl up in a blanket and drink soup.
  • I also hate chemistry, but I don't care anymore haha.
  • I officially changed my major.  That's why I don't care anymore.
  • Robert leaves for New York tonight :(
  • I have a love-hate relationship with my bangs.  I don't know what I'm going to do with them.
  • I changed my Facebook color! Only those with the plug-in can see my new color though.
  • I wish random people would text me so I could do this: Snuggie Texts

Haha this makes me laugh.  Just thought I'd share this with anyone else who feels this way.

Happy Halloween (Yesterday :D)

Man, it has been a while.  It has constantly been GO GO GO for the past couple of weeks.  Craziness.  I barely had time to put together our Halloween costume (thanks Kajsia and Robert for your help on painting).

Robert's hair split down the middle was the best part of his costume.
Making this costume took me back to the days when I was in Tech Theater in high school (I designed signs for the school plays for the year and painted them).  That was a fun class.

Well, gotta get back to work.  Just thought I'd do a lil update.  A really little update.

10.12.2012

Home Alone

Sometimes it's boring to be home by myself.  On a Friday.  Usually Robert is home by 5, but he had a double shift today at the MTC, so he doesn't get home till 9ish.  Boo.

So what did I do today?
  • Switched out my warm clothes and replaced them with cold clothes :(
  • Finished all my homework for the weekend! (Except memorizing Chinese... which I just barely thought of.  I usually do that Saturday anyway because I forget the characters by Monday anyway, so the closer to Monday I memorize, the longer they stay in my mind)
  • Watched the first episode to the new season of Vampire Diaries :)  shhh... don't tell Robert. Haha jk
  • Ate a taco
  • Ate some grapes
  • Played on Photobooth and took some goofy pictures
  • Recorded myself singing songs, then deleting them.  No one gets to see those besides me.  But I don't care if Robert happens to stumble upon them.  Too bad he won't, they're deleted.
Yup.  That's how my Friday has been since getting home from school.  So fun, I know.  Now I'm just waiting for the cookie dough to defrost (Robert wanted some cookies) and then I'll bake those, and then head off for the shower.  Maybe Robert and I will watch a movie when he gets home too :)

Happy Weekend!

Another Spider Nightmare

I woke up this morning at like 5 kicking Robert as I jumped up from my nightmare (he kneed me later on as he woke from his dream, but I don't remember what he said it was about).  In my dream, I was at school just sitting in class, and then the bell rang.  I was walking out the door of the building when I saw two people playing with this spider in their hand (it was about 1/3 the size of their hands).  I saw this and immediately ran as far away from them as I possibly could.  I then saw a girl that was in my ward and she was playing with one too, and she saw that I was walking fast away from her with a nervous look on my face.  She said, "Hey, do you not like spiders or something?"  And I told her that I hated them.  She then pretended to throw the spider at me, and I flinched and ran at the same time.  She's like, "I'm just kidding, I won't throw it at you."  After she said that, she threw the spider at the wall next to her, and I was so scared the spider was going to chase me.  But it didn't.  After that, another girl (some made up one that I didn't know) came along with a spider in her hand, and she saw that I was freaking out earlier.  She pretended to throw it at me, but instead threw the spider in the grass space near me, and I ran for my life.  I looked back, and the spider was hopping towards me.  It was too fast, and it jumped on me.  That's when I woke up, kicking Robert and hyperventilating.  I started to cry, but realized I was just in my bed and that it was all a dream so I stopped myself.

What a great way to wake up.

Conference weekend

was fantastic!  The talks were super good, and it was nice to get answers to questions I've had, and to just be spiritually uplifted.  Sometimes we just need that motivation to renew our commitment and discipleship to Christ.

It was also a nice weekend because Conference time means family time!  I love being with my family!  We just spent all weekend in Springville, and it was fun.  Saturday was spent at Robert's family's house.  We got there during the halftime of Conference.  We got there with just a few minutes before the second session started.  Conference time at the Days' is like Christmas time (that's what my mother-in-law says), so there is a lot of food and treats to get everyone pumped up about Conference.  It gives Conference this festive atmosphere, and it is exciting!  After the second session was over, the guys went to help put up the Christmas lights (last year Robert had to put them up by himself, but this year a bunch of guys were around so Robert's mom figured they could put up the lights while they were all around.  That's why they're up before Halloween even started ;) ).  The guys got done in time to leave for Priesthood session, which left us girls at home for a crafting party.  But of course we had to eat dinner first, so we went to Jake's Brookside for some burgers and fries.
So good...
After we ate, we made dessert.  We were going to start crafting first, but the dessert we chose to make had to sit in the fridge for 2 hours, and we just didn't have the time, so we made it first, then stuck it in the freezer to speed up the process.
They kinda taste like the Reese's brownies you can buy at Target.  They are really good!
And then, it was finally craft time!  We made some cards.  I made two (I spent forever trying to figure out colors on my first card.  Ha.) and Emmali made 3.  Our mom made... a little bit of 1.  Haha.  She was playing with the Cricket making a bunch of flowers :)

It was a ton of fun, especially since they have a plethora of paper to choose from and so many tools and craft things to use.  Now I just gotta figure out who I'm gonna give these to and when... hehe.

Saturday night we slept over at my house and watched Conference there in the morning, then went to my grandparent's house for the afternoon session.  It was a little hard to focus with a bunch of little cousins.  Good thing the talks can be found in various places... the Ensign, Youtube, online, etc.  Then it was just an evening of games.  A group of people were playing Rook, and then we got a bigger group playing the "writing/drawing" game.  It's difficult to explain unless it's in person haha.  Just know that it's a fun group activity.  After that game, 5 of us played Monopoly Deal, and then we went home.  At home, Kajsia was doing vinyl for her laptop, so while we waited (she rides with us since she lives in Provo too) we (my mom, Karson, Robert, and I) played more games.  We played a few rounds of "Jian Hong Dian" (a Chinese card game), and then a couple of rounds of 7 Up (another card game).  Karson was getting to goofy later on (he's goofy when he's tired), so my dad took his spot in the last game of 7 Up.  And then... we went home to Provo and our exciting weekend was over.  Back to work and school... no bueno.  Plus the fact that I wake up dead tired in the mornings.  We have just been going to bed too late on the weekends and getting up stinking early for school and work.  But, as I've learned in conference, we need to enjoy the journey we're on and not keep looking forward to the finish line.  So, with optimism, I start a new week.

Speaking of optimism, I am excited to watch "Once Upon a Time" tonight (Sundays are busy being spent with family, so Robert and I watch the episodes on Hulu the next day).  I love that show :)

It's Friday Night

I love Fridays.  It's a nice short day for me since I get out of class at 1 and get to go home.  Plus I only work 2 hours that day.  Robert and I got some free dinner from a Groupon his mom gave him for his birthday at Sammy's.  They have some gooood burgers.  After dinner, we went to the game against Hawaii.
Robert got his new iPhone 5 today and was excited to try the Panoramic feature.
Front row seats (Robert was excited about that too)
The second stretcher-worthy injury within 3 minutes of the first one.  Both within 7 minutes from the start of the game.
Cosmo decided to join us for a little bit.  I thought that girl (hugging him) was going to cry... she was a little too excited about Cosmo being by us.  One of her friends hugged him and let go, putting her jacket collar up to her nose.  He was a little stinky... sweat and stuff.  I don't blame him... I would be sweaty in a costume like that too.

After publishing this post,  Robert wanted me to go back and add a couple of things.
1) He caught one of the footballs at one of the kickoffs.
2) We were on ESPN.
He has been talking about that all last night after the game... and he's still talking about this morning haha.

People...

There are just some interesting people on BYU campus (as well as other places), and I've just had the urge to make a blog dedicated to the people I see (along with pictures).  But I feel like that would be mean, or I would get kicked out of BYU.  I told my boss about this (we were talking about the guy that came into our office with a paper moustache on), and she said "You don't have to say they're people from BYU, you could just generalize it."  But still, I have mixed feelings.  It's just interesting to see the things I've seen on BYU campus...
  • a guy wearing a green cape (countless times during my second semester here at BYU as a freshman)
  • a girl wearing a yellow cape (seen with the guy wearing a green cape)
  • a guy with a crocheted beard
  • a guy with a paper moustache
  • a guy dressed up as a pirate (I guess it was for "Talk Like a Pirate Day", but still...)
  • a girl wearing an interesting skirt
  • a girl with a bow in her hair that was bigger than her face
And those are the ones that come to my mind right now.  I'm sure I've seen more.  I see people take pictures of these people behind their backs sometimes.  Is it mean?  I don't know.  This reminds me of the People of Walmart website that shows a bunch of funny things people wear at Walmart (some you're thinking, "Why in the world are you wearing those?  They don't even fit!").  It makes for good entertainment, but I question whether it's mean or not.  We're not exactly making fun of the people themselves, just their attire... So where do you cross the line?

Robbie's Bday

Yesterday was Robert's 23rd.  For dinner (we sorta had two...) we went on a picnic to Hobble Creek Canyon, and then to a luau his dad's BYU single's ward was having.  For Robert's present, I made him this:

I wrote the reason on one side...
and a picture to go along with the reason on the backside.
Yup.  That's what poor newlyweds give each other for birthdays.  Haha.  But Robert is getting the new iPhone 5 for his birthday that his parents mostly paid for.  He was supposed to get it yesterday, but the store he was getting it at only received 5 phones, so Robert has to wait till next week :(  He was pretty sad about that.  But, I'm sure he'll love it once he gets it!

 The colors are changing

 Pretty red trees

And then at the luau...
 That's Robert's surfing face
It was a good day, and we were exhausted.  We came home and watched Invincible, then went to bed.

Date Night

Last night Robert and I had an enjoyable evening.  First we went to dinner at JCW's (we still have a buy 1 hamburger get one free card).  On the card we were given 3 times we could use this deal, but yesterday was our last time to use it.  Luckily, we had a nice cashier who decided not to mark off the 3rd box, which means we get an extra time to go there with the deal!

Mmm... their burgers are delish!
After our hardy dinner, we went to order our movie tickets for 9:40 at the dollar theater in Provo (JCW's is in that vicinity, so we thought we might as well order our tickets.  Friday nights at that theater is a zoo.)  Then... we went bowling!  We both haven't been forever!  And it was fun.  Especially since I whooped Robert both times (usually he beats me... I think yesterday would've been the 2nd and 3rd times I've beaten him at bowling).  He was having an off night.

That's me only knocking down 1 pin on my first bowl.  Ha.

Yes, that is me, Loki, pretty much doubling Thor's score.
After we bowled, Robert and I went to the Orem mall while we killed time before the movie.  We were trying to look for a birthday present for my dad, but had no clue what to get him.  We ended up finding one (not at the mall, but close to it).  After like 2 hours, it was finally time to go to the movie theater (except we ended up waiting in our car for a bit because we were still too early).
We went and saw Ted.  JK.  That's rated R, silly!  We actually saw Snow White & the Huntsman.
It was a pretty good movie.  Robert and I liked it, minus the ending.  The thing that bothered me the most was when the Huntsman kissed Snow White and broke the spell.  She woke up from the dead, and no one questioned how she woke up, they just went right into battle.  Dumb.  And in the end, we never find out what happens between the Huntsman and Snow White.  It was like true love's kiss didn't matter because she was too busy getting fighting the evil stepmom and getting crowned queen.  Other than that, it was a good movie.  And that was the end of our night.
