It was also a nice weekend because Conference time means family time! I love being with my family! We just spent all weekend in Springville, and it was fun. Saturday was spent at Robert's family's house. We got there during the halftime of Conference. We got there with just a few minutes before the second session started. Conference time at the Days' is like Christmas time (that's what my mother-in-law says), so there is a lot of food and treats to get everyone pumped up about Conference. It gives Conference this festive atmosphere, and it is exciting! After the second session was over, the guys went to help put up the Christmas lights (last year Robert had to put them up by himself, but this year a bunch of guys were around so Robert's mom figured they could put up the lights while they were all around. That's why they're up before Halloween even started ;) ). The guys got done in time to leave for Priesthood session, which left us girls at home for a crafting party. But of course we had to eat dinner first, so we went to Jake's Brookside for some burgers and fries.
So good...
After we ate, we made dessert. We were going to start crafting first, but the dessert we chose to make had to sit in the fridge for 2 hours, and we just didn't have the time, so we made it first, then stuck it in the freezer to speed up the process.
They kinda taste like the Reese's brownies you can buy at Target. They are really good!
And then, it was finally craft time! We made some cards. I made two (I spent forever trying to figure out colors on my first card. Ha.) and Emmali made 3. Our mom made... a little bit of 1. Haha. She was playing with the Cricket making a bunch of flowers :)
It was a ton of fun, especially since they have a plethora of paper to choose from and so many tools and craft things to use. Now I just gotta figure out who I'm gonna give these to and when... hehe.
Saturday night we slept over at my house and watched Conference there in the morning, then went to my grandparent's house for the afternoon session. It was a little hard to focus with a bunch of little cousins. Good thing the talks can be found in various places... the Ensign, Youtube, online, etc. Then it was just an evening of games. A group of people were playing Rook, and then we got a bigger group playing the "writing/drawing" game. It's difficult to explain unless it's in person haha. Just know that it's a fun group activity. After that game, 5 of us played Monopoly Deal, and then we went home. At home, Kajsia was doing vinyl for her laptop, so while we waited (she rides with us since she lives in Provo too) we (my mom, Karson, Robert, and I) played more games. We played a few rounds of "Jian Hong Dian" (a Chinese card game), and then a couple of rounds of 7 Up (another card game). Karson was getting to goofy later on (he's goofy when he's tired), so my dad took his spot in the last game of 7 Up. And then... we went home to Provo and our exciting weekend was over. Back to work and school... no bueno. Plus the fact that I wake up dead tired in the mornings. We have just been going to bed too late on the weekends and getting up stinking early for school and work. But, as I've learned in conference, we need to enjoy the journey we're on and not keep looking forward to the finish line. So, with optimism, I start a new week.
Speaking of optimism, I am excited to watch "Once Upon a Time" tonight (Sundays are busy being spent with family, so Robert and I watch the episodes on Hulu the next day). I love that show :)
